Research from comScore has shown that 64% of consumers are more likely to buy a product after watching a video about it. Visitors who view videos will stay on the site an average of two minutes longer than those that don’t feature videos. Also, Google, Yahoo, and most other major search engines will give priority listing to websites that host video content. Placing “tags” in the video will also increase it’s searchability.

And while Youtube and Vimeo are filled with non-commercial videos, companies are creating Youtube channels and treating them as their second or third website (Facebook/Twitter included). If a company can set itself apart as a “thought leader” through the use of compelling videos; or ease a prospect’s mind by offering product testimonial or instructional “walk-thru” videos that will detail the first stages of ownership, strong connections can be built early.
